A few weeks ago I planned a very special wedding in Puerto Rico! While visiting the beautiful island I was able to set up a styled shoot and collaborate with a local photographer Maydeline whom is the owner of Mines Photography. Maydeline was kind enough to show me around the city of Old San Juan and give me a brief history on some of the historic sites.
After venturing around I really fell in love with the island! I was amazed by the vibrant colors that laid on the buildings, the fresh food and the people of Puerto Rico! Everyone I came across was extremely kind and accommodating, I felt like I was around my own family our entire stay!
As you may know, in September Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico hard! Many of the people I connected with shared their personal stories with me. Many lost their homes and many are still without electricity! Imagine being without power for 7 months! A lot of businesses were forced to close down including wedding venues. Thankfully we were still able to have Coral and Josean's wedding at the Courtyard Isla Verde Resort since the building only had minor damage!
My visit to Puerto Rico allowed me to put a lot of things in perspective. A lot of the people I connected with had a very positive outlook on life and rebuilding the island. Not once did I hear anyone complain of being "without" something. Puerto Rico humbled me! It made me want to be better, complain less and give more!
