Bridesmaid Etiquette

Updated: May 20, 2020

How to fulfill the role of being a bridesmaid.

Your friends are over the moon about their new chapter! You've celebrated with the happy couple at their engagement party, and now they're asking you to be one of her bridesmaids. Then the panic sets in because you're not sure what to do. Do you wonder what will be expected but are afraid to ask? This is a common fear among first-time bridesmaids.

#1: Try your best to be respond to all of the group chats and email chains. Your bride needs your support, your opinion and sometimes just a quick update on if you've already ordered your dress or not.

#2: Expect to pay for your dress, florals and hair/makeup.

#3: Dance at the reception! Bridesmaids are the unofficial party starters! Help encourage the guests to get out on the dance floor to have a good time celebrating the newlyweds.

#4: Do not compare their wedding planning process or wedding to anyone else's. There are hundreds of Creatives and we all work differently. Your bride liked what she likes and might want to bring some of those awesome ideas she has in her head to life. Support her ideas.

#5: Do not late be late to any part of their wedding: Yup, that includes the rehearsal and actual ceremony!
